It is really cool to see how much closer Cliff and Aaron are becoming and seeing how is shapes and influences Cliff’s life and the way he lives. At first it was sad to see how his life was falling apart, but now I feel like it’s really gotten him to cherish his friends and what he does have, even without his brother there. Cliff and Aaron aren’t just friends. They are best friends. And it’s been really cool seeing how their bond grows and how they tell each other things they’ve never told anyone before.

Cliff and Aaron chillin

I am excited for the next chapter, as they continue to conquer the God given list and make the school a better place. There are many ways they are working on doing this. One of them is getting a teacher back that quit because of a poor experience. They are also attempting to just overall help individuals be better people by whichever standards are fit by the list. Later on Cliff and Aaron discovered that the teacher that quit was dealt a bad hand in life and maybe that is why they have the experience they do are certain aspects of teaching and over all life, so they want to help change their outlook to a better one.

I am really enjoying this book and it seems like it gets better almost every day. There is always something going on and the humor really keeps me in tune as well. I love a book that makes me feel good and seeing Neanderthal’s life piece back together, him looking forward to school, wanting to make the world a better place, and overall him becoming more him again is really cool to see. It references pop culture and some other reads as well, showing how these interests influence Cliff’s growth and development as a individual. This book is very relatable and has circumstances which could ACTUALLY take place, which makes Cliff’s life very easy to relate to and it feels like you’re in the book sometimes. He becomes best friends with his bully Aaron and gets closer with Teagan(Now his girlfriend I think or something of the sorts.) I am intrigued by and am going to continue reading this book and can’t wait to see what events take place next.

Not a whole lot has really happened that’s different and cool to talk about, but since Neanderthal got in a fight and was suspended, they returned to school relatively at the same time as each other and since then have had some beef and kind of been throwing around little things to get back at each other for. Neanderthal usually sits alone and lunch and has for quite some time, but shortly after Neanderthal and Aaron had this beef Aaron and some other people that Aaron is associated with sat and his table and they talked about near-death experiences and other strange stuff to talk about. They soon after become closer and pretty good friends so that’s good. The next thing pretty important that happens with Aaron that might be important, I’m not sure, is that he says he saw God and God gives him a list of things to do and he needs Neanderthal’s help doing those things, so I think he might need to see a psychiatrist or something. Then Aaron tries to set Neanderthal up with the girl named Tegan and Neanderthal is awkward and hesitant because he thinks that Aaron likes her and he doesn’t want to date her because he and Aaron are friends now or something, so she takes it the wrong way and is now upset with Neanderthal. That is about where this section ends, it was more serious and did not have as much humor as the last, but pretty exciting. I don’t usually like dialogue-bloated books, but since it’s kind of shifting back and forth It was a pretty good section.

After reading the first section of my book, I can say that I really love the author’s kind of writing and wording. It’s written in a way that makes it very difficult to get bored or lose interest. In my book, there is a great sense of humor as well and I think that may also be why it is so easy to stay tuned in because it’s not like I’m just reading a character’s thoughts and what happens in the story, but I am actually feeling what the author is wanting me to feel and that makes this a great read so far. In the book, our main character is quite heavy and that is what he is made fun of at school and this influences his mental health. He copes with this by going to his brother’s grave pretty often. His brother committed suicide at the spot they used to hang out and spend time together. Since he is made fun of for being a bigger kind of guy, we get to hear his thoughts on some of the certain things people have said to him and stuck with him, which is one of the major things that make the reader feel what the main character is. I don’t have any direct evidence that he may have low self-esteem, but I definitely think he does and that is why he is always thinking about negative things people have said to him or what people think of him. With this being the case, the only one he feels like he can talk to is his brother and because he can’t, he copes with these conflicts by visiting his grave after school. So this is my book and for the first section it is pretty fast-paced and exciting and I’m really enjoying it.

What is your book? Neanderthal opens the door to the universe. Why did you pick it? Because it looks fun. Who are you reading with (if you are)? Robert. What are you looking forward to in this project? I wanna get good grade. What are you apprehensive about? That I might not get good grade. What are you going to do to ensure your success? Try my best. We chose this book because you suggested it and we talked to others in the class that read it and also liked it. The cover of the book is my favorite color and it looks really cool. The plot is very interesting and am looking forward to seeing how these characters in the book confront and get through conflicts. It has a been a while since I’ve read a book with another and I am looking forward to being able to talk and conversate about a book with someone.

The Crucible emotions of characters and how it affects the plot

Jealousy is shown through Abigail. she is jealous of Elizabeth Proctor because she wants to be with John proctor and this motivates her to accuse Elizabeth Proctor of being a witch. This all results in the court making a search warrant for the proctor household and then finding a poppet, which causes Elizabeth to go to court. Fear is shown through the citizens of Salem when the girls cry, faint, and scream to pretend that there are spirits tormenting them to show evidence of the accused being witches. Love is shown through Elizabeth Proctor and John Proctor where in the court room, she lies about his adultery to defend her husband, which then leads to her fumbling the case since proctor swore that she could never lie. This was a huge deal to the court because it is very wrong to lie in court. One emotion I would like to talk about it redemption through the girls. This shows when they were accused of being witches when dancing in the forest and doing other what may look like witch craft kind of events, then begging and praying for Gods forgiveness and accusing others of being witches to save their own skin.

Question 2 on the 3 readings

I think that these readings could greatly have impacted the audience because they show the ideas of ethos and really let the reader feel what they’ve felt. This also allows the reader to understand what happened and how so that something like this won’t happen again between cultures, better allowing the world to understand each other and each other’s cultures.

Bartolome De Las Casas

  1. What are three specific injustices of the Spanish colonizers? They subjected women and children, taking them away from their families and friends. They committed acts of violence and oppression, which made the Indians change how they saw them. The Christians, with their horses and swords and pikes began to carry out massacres and strange cruelties against them.
  2. They used words with negative intention or connotation, such as violent and cruel, to give the reader a sense of what emotion the Indians may have felt. They do the same, but with the Christians to make the reader see them and the actions they did and how they did harm they did. The author used words like sorrow and heartbreak when the millions of Indians were held captive by the Christians to represent how the Indians felt in the time. Overall to relate to mood and relation, they make it pretty clear that the Indians were victimized and the Christians would just take and take.
  3. I think his audience could be the noble Spaniards. When he says, “The Spaniards preserve the divine concepts of love for their fellow men, when they place the bodies of the Indians in such mortal danger.
  4. How does this tie in with cultural encounters and frontiers? This ties in with cultural encounters and frontiers because they describe what the Indians went through and why the Christians were so wrong, so that something like this doesn’t happen again. On page 90, it says, “…more than two million souls taken captive, and have sent them to do hard labor in the mines, labor that caused many of them to die”. Although the Christians may have thought on this frontier they were making a new world or “discovering the Americas,” they clearly did more damage than good, as they striped away the lives of many natives cruelly and inhumanly.
